What's the buzz?

Neglecting my painting terribly, I forge on with the pattern design attempts. Here's another. I tried to keep it a bit simpler this time. The theme is bees, which, owing to their contributions to the beauty and bounty of planet earth, I adore. MuWaH!

Islands theme contest on Spoonflower

I didn't think I'd have time to design anything for the next Spoonflower contest because I had a deadline for something else that day, but then couldn't resist. I really enjoy working on these, and get so excited about learning new things.

Pattern obsession

Happy April Fool's day! I've been seeing patterns in my head lately. . . so I decided to challenge myself to create 10 — count 'em, 10 — fabric designs to add to my portfolio. To assist in that goal, I'm going to start doing some of the theme contests on Spoonflower, the custom fabric website. Coincidentally, just as I was mulling over this concept of mid-century air travel, I noticed that this week's contest was flying machines. Perfect.

Long and hard I worked, struggling to figure out a repeat on this one, and finished just under the wire for the entry deadline last night. Whew.

There was a plan to include one of the old-style airline meals, but it was getting jam-packed...
