Last of 2017, First of 2018

The holidays are over now. But I'll continue to plug in the Christmas lights every morning until the tree grows brittle and threatens to become a fire hazard. Likewise, I'm only just now finishing up my holiday paintings in the ole' art journal. Here, the Dear, Departed Cap'n finds plenty of time to dawdle away a Christmas morning playing with the newest thing in electric trains. Another year steams into the fog, and a fresh one sails in. Happy New Year, me hearties!

Over the holidays I got behind in my posting because I was working on a couple of family portraits. here's one of a sweet family newly relocated from California to Texas. They love camping and the kids enjoy collecting wood for the fire and playing with lanterns and headlamps.

Thanksgiving is a great occasion for a trip on a train. Along the way, a lady and her young cats pass the hours playing card games. Be warned — the youngest does not play fair.

A little knitting by the fire. What better bulwark against the coming storms than a snuggly woolen or two? It's terribly inconvenient when one gets the sniffles.

Suddenly, it's fall!

This one got a little complicated and a bit of a muddle, but here it is, warts and all. I really must try to keep these simpler! Barely a week ago the temperature in Los Angeles was over 100. But now, suddenly, Autumn has come, bless'er.
